The story is told in first person, in the form of journal entries. The protagonist inhabits a world that seems to be inside a large building, (which he calls the House) with many halls and floors. The sea comes into some of the rooms, and they are inhabited by birds.
The protagonist seems to be scientifically minded, and keeps meticulous records of everything he observes. He has discovered thirteen human skeletons in the house, but only knows of one other living person-a man that he calls the Other. He meets with the Other at regular intervals, and shares data with him. The Other calls him Piranesi-but as far as he can remember, that is not his name....
Your appreciation of the story will be enhanced if you are acquainted with the Chronicles of Narnia, particularly "The Magician's Nephew".
I am on the search for good Saint books. I started one about Saint Francis. If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears!
Yes! My God and My All by Elizabeth Goudge is excellent. But to be honest I haven't read many books about saints but have read a few by saints.
thank you! I find that I need "cliff notes" when I read Saint books lol!
I forgot to mention-the halls in the House are filled with statues.
In the Fiction category, I recently read "Piranesi" by Susanna Clarke, and I enjoyed it very much.
Thanks! I will check it out. What is the plot?
