You're doing a good, hard thing Mandy! As a former homeschooling mom of 15 years, you will not regret this time with your children, it is so fleeting and worth it! As I'm typing this, I'm seeing Jamie's question below and I would say that I was able to homeschool successfully, keep a tidy home and make a few homecooked meals/week with two sons.

Thank you so much Brooke! I appreciate you taking the time to read and to comment here ! Homeschooling definitely can feel daunting but it helps to have moms like you who have gone before us to pave the way and share your wisdom.

I appreciate you and the way you share your life and heart. Not everyone can/should do that. So glad you do. You seem to always verbalize what, I'm sure, many mom's/families are experiencing. I know God is using you. Love you so much.

I've really been enjoying your newsletter's, Mandy! Our oldest is 3, but we plan (unless God guides us otherwise) to homeschool him, at least for a few years. I say that loosely because, while I have multiple friends who homeschool, I don't really know what it'll be like for our family until we start. So much could change, and I'm just remaining open to the possibilities! I do have a question, though, that came to my mind as I read your tips (which I loved, btw). I have heard from a mom who had homeschooled for ~20 years that you can only have 1 of these 3 things: 1. homeschool your kids; 2. a clean/tidy home; 3. homecooked meals. While seasons may come where this is a true reality, would you say that this is true for you? (Other homeschool moms who see this, please chime in!)

Thanks so much Jamie! I'm so glad you find value in these words!

So I'm definitely not as experienced as the mom you are mentioning but I have heard that whole idea floated around before.

However, I honestly think you can have 2 out of the 3 and eventually 3 out of the 3. A lot of it is understanding the season you are in at the time and just not expecting too much.

With younger kids, you don't need to do as much schooling. Math, and reading are the priorities, and then there is plenty of time for home chores and cooking. When they are older, they need more schooling and possibly more help (depending on the subject) and so there isn't as much time for cleaning or cooking BUT the kids are also bigger and can help more.

I would say mostly at this point we get all 3 - though I do have a basket of unfolded clean laundry that has been sitting in my room for 2 days! So it varies!
